The All American Conference will present a "Q & A" with one of its many gifted student-athletes from a participating AAC school.  The athlete featured must excel in the classroom and shown that he/her has gone above and beyond on both the field of play and by volunteering in his/her community.  This week's featured student athlete player is Derek Phillips from Austintown Fitch Falcons.

History

What do you enjoy most about playing this sport?
You’re able to watch your effort come to life depending on the amount of work you do

What type of volunteer work are you involved in within your community?
I’ve worked the Panerathon and volunteered at Oh Wow

What is the most memorable moment in your scholastic career? Qualifying for indoor state my senior year with my relay

What is your favorite sports related movie?
Sandlot

Do you have any pre-game/match/meet rituals?
I typically stay to myself and focus on the task ahead

Are you looking to continue your playing career in college?
Possibly, yes

Do you have a field of study already chosen when you go to college? Why that field?
Yes, I’d like to go into computer science or software engineering, I’ve been around technology my whole life and it’s always interested me.


All-American Conference

The All-American Conference is an OHSAA-sanctioned league, created in 2008 as the result of the merger between the Trumbull Athletic Conference and the Metro Athletic Conference in Ohio. The league has 21 different member schools, with 17 sports offered throughout fall, winter and spring sports seasons.
