POLAND, OHIO – Poland Seminary High School announces that it will be inducting seven new members to the Poland Athletic Hall of Fame this year. The induction ceremony will take place on September 16th prior to the Poland vs Howland football game. There will be also be a Hall of Fame tailgate party prior to the game- all former coaches and inductees are invited to attend. This year’s class includes:
Leslie Molaskey Lesnak (1991) - Softball
Lesly played softball four years for the Lady Bulldogs (1988-1991) and was a three year letter winner, excelling in the pitching circle from 1989-1991. She was a key contributor hitting and led the pitching staff for the undefeated 1990 team, which won the MVC, Sectionals and Districts. Her senior year (1991), Poland repeated as MVC, Sectional and District Champions. Individually she was a unanimous 1st team All-MVC 1990 and 1991; also in 1990 was 2nd team All-State, 1st Team All-Northeast Ohio, and awarded the Student Athlete of the Week (WYTV Channel 33). She had 52 pitching appearances, starting 44 games from 88-91 and won 41 of 44 games from 89-91. Over her pitching career at Poland, Lesly recorded 273 strikeouts, 2 No-Hitters, had a career ERA of .096 and added 2 saves. At the plate, she was just as tenacious with an on base average of .538 and career batting average of .428.
For her efforts Lesly earned a full athletic scholarship for softball from Youngstown State University. There she was a 4 year letter winner, 4 year All-Academic Achievement and held multiple single season records for hitting and pitching during her career (1992-1995).
Steffi Graf Yoder (2004) Basketball, Volleyball and Softball
Steffi Graf Yoder was a three sport athlete for the Lady Bulldogs, excelling in Volleyball, Basketball and Softball. She was also a PSHS valedictorian with a 4.0 GPA. In Volleyball, Steffi was a 3 year letter winner and was named 2003 First Team All-District. Her teams were Sectional Champs in 2002 and 2003, and MAC Champs in 2003.
In Basketball, Steffi was a 4 year letter winner, and earned 2004 All-State Honorable mention, 2004 2nd Team All-District, and 1st Team All-League in 2003 and 2004. Her team was the 2002-03 Sectional Champs. Steffi was also the winner of the Tony Archibald Memorial Scholarship.
Lastly, in Softball, Steffi was a 3 year letter winner (Infielder), member of 4 conference championship teams, 4 district championship teams, 1 year regional runner-up and 1 year State Runner-up. She was selected 2004 2nd Team All-State and in 2002 and 2004, 1st Team All-District. She was the winner of the Matt Hardy Scholarship.
Steffi went on to attend Ohio Wesleyan University where she played Volleyball and Basketball. In Volleyball, she was an All-North Coast Athletic Conference 1st Team selection in 2006 and 2nd Team in 2007. She was All-District IV First Team in 2007 and in 2007-08, won the Ohio Wesleyan Presidential Scholar Athlete Award. She was also honored by ESPN the Magazine for her Academics, earning Second Team Academic All-District, finishing with a 3.84 GPA at OWU.
In Basketball, she was selected as All-North Coast Athletic Conference Honorable Mention in the 2006-7 season, and was selected to the 1st Team All-Conference in 2007-8.
Chad Fender (2005) - Basketball
Chad was a 4 year letter winner in basketball for the Bulldogs. He played guard and graduated as Poland’s all-time leading scorer with 1,525 points. Chad was 2003 Honorable Mention All- state and in 2004 and 2005 was 1st team All-State. He was selected to the 1st team All NEO as a Sophomore. He was 2nd team MAC as a Freshman and 1st team All MAC from his sophomore through Senior years. He was also the MAC Player of the year his Junior and Senior years. Chad holds many of the school basketball records including: Most career points 1525, most consecutive free throws (23), most points as a sophomore (436), and most points as a freshman (260). He was a McDonald’s All American selection in 2005. Chad went on to attend YSU upon graduation.
Matt Feschak (1996) - Football
Matt was a three-year letter winner for Bulldogs in Football. He played Linebacker and Fullback and garnered several honors throughout his carees. Honors include being named 1st Team Quad County
(1995), 1st Team All Conference/1st Team All-NEO, and being selected to the Big 33 Game. His teams were league champs from 1993 to 1995. He was the team MVP in 1995 and was player of the week multiple times during his career.
Matt went on to attend the University of Connecticut on a full Football Scholarship where he played Fullback for the huskies. He was a three year starter and letter winner.
Jamie “Chubba” Dunn (2002) - Basketball
Jamie played point guard for the Bulldogs from 7th grade through 12th grade. Jamie was a three-year letter winner while leading the Bulldogs to two Metro Athletic Conference championships, a District Championship, Regional Championship, and a State Final Four appearance. His 2002 team eventually lost in the Final Four to a LeBron James led Akron St. Vincent St. Mary’s team in front of a state record crowd at the time. During his time with the Bulldogs, Jamie was named All-State Special Mention, 1st Team All Northeast Ohio and was named Conference Player of the Year in both his junior and senior seasons. In his senior season, Jamie was named the Vindicator Player of the Year and was selected to represent the Valley’s district in the Ohio North-South All Star game. After high school, Jamie went on to graduate from Ohio University with a Sports Management/Business Degree and later received his Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School.
Tiffany ShanksMoore (1991) Softball, Soccer, Track, Band & Flag Line
Tiffany was a very versatile athlete for the Bulldogs excelling in Softball, Soccer and Track while also marching with the Band and Flag Line.
In Softball , Tiffany was a 4 year letter winner at centerfield and 4 year MVC 1st Team AllConference Selection. She was selected to the 2nd Team AllState and the AllNorth Eastern Ohio Team her Junior and Senior years. She was also invited to play in the Ohio High School Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association Summer Tournament her Junior and Senior years. Her batting average her Senior year was .458 with 5 home runs and 19 steals.
In Soccer Tiffany was a 4 year letter winner and was selected 1st Team MVC her sophomore through senior seasons. She was also selected to the 1st Team AllGreater Akron and Gold AllStar Teams 3 years in a row. Her senior year she was chosen as one of Youngstown Vindicator’s Area High School Stars of the Week.
Tiffany was selected to the TEAMSUSA 1990 European Select Youth Soccer Tour (U18) and toured Europe for a month competing in the Gothia, Dana and Holland Cups. Tiffany finished her Senior year with 23 goals and 3 assists.
In Track Tiffany Lettered only participating her Junior year. Her events included the 100m Dash, Long Jump, and Anchored the 4x100 Relay. She was 1st Team AllConference, AllCounty Qualifier (100m dash) and OHSAA District Qualifier (100m dash...13.2)
Tiffany also participated in the Marching Band (trombone) and Flagline where she was a 4 year Letter winner.
Tiffany attended Shawnee State University on an athletic scholarship to play Softball and Soccer. She also was a Cheerleader and the Mascot. She received numerous awards for her athletic achievements while at SSU. Some achievements were being an NAIA Softball AllAmerican and Scholar Athlete and still holds an NAIA National Tournament Individual Record for Most Doubles. At Centerfield, helped her team earn 2 National Championship Team Rings. Tiffany Went on to receive her Masters of Education in Classroom Teaching from the University of Rio Grande.
Colleen Moran Kepple (2005) - Cross Country, Track & Soccer
Colleen was a three sport athlete for the Bulldogs, excelling in Cross Country, Track and Soccer.
In cross country she was a state qualifier in 2003 and 2004. She was the Suburban League Champion in 2004, the MAC Runner-up in 2003, and MAC Champion, breaking the course record in 2004.
In soccer Colleen was a 2 year Varsity team captain. She was selected 1st Team All MAC in 2004 and lead her teams to 3 District Championships (2002-2004).
In track Colleen was a 4 time State qualifier (3200m, 4x800m relay, and twice in the 1600m). She was the 2005 MAC Champion in the 1600m, 3200m and 4x800m relay, 2005 District and Regional Champion in the 4x800m relay and 2005 Regional Champion in the 3200m. She placed in 3 events at the 2005 Ohio State Meet (3rd in 1600m, 7th in 3200m, 3rd in 4x800m relay) and is the school record holder in two events, the 1600m (5:09:52) and 4x800m relay (9:34).
Colleen went on to attend the University of Akron where she was a 3 year letter winner in both Track and Cross Country. She was a 2 year Varsity CC Team Captain and helped lead the Zips Track and Field team to dominating performances, winning the Mid-American Conference Championships 3 years in a row in both indoor and outdoor track. Colleen received First Team All-Conference honors by winning the 3,000m race at the 2007 Mid-American Conference Championship. Her personal bests include 18:04 (CC), 4:57 (mile), 9:53 (3000m) and 17:28 (5000m).
After college Colleen has competed in several marathons, as well as qualifying and participating in the 2011 Boston Marathon.
The All-American Conference is an OHSAA-sanctioned league, created in 2008 as the result of the merger between the Trumbull Athletic Conference and the Metro Athletic Conference in Ohio. The league has 21 different member schools, with 17 sports offered throughout fall, winter and spring sports seasons.
