Each week, the All American Conference will present a "Q & A" with one of its many gifted student-athletes from a participating AAC school. The athlete featured must excel in the classroom and shown that he/her has gone above and beyond on both the field of play and by volunteering in his/her community. This week's featured student athlete player is Aaron Iler from LaBrae Vikings.
Name: Aaron Iler (I-ler)
Sport/Position: Basketball - Guard
What are your plans after graduation?
I plan on attending college but am undecided on which university.
What is your favorite class?
What do you enjoy most about playing this sport?
I enjoy that the momentum changes at any moment. I love to feel the energy coursing through the gym during a close game.
What is the most memorable moment in your scholastic career?
My first dunk in a game was against Brookfield my freshman year.
What is your favorite sports related movie?
I don’t really have favorite, but I love when the underdogs step up and prove everyone wrong.
Do you have any pre-game/match/meet rituals?
I just put my headphones on and mentally prepare myself for the game.
Who has the best nickname on the team and what is it?
“Shrump”. We call Elijah Whiteside that because he used to have hair like Iman Shumpert.
Who is your role model? Why?
I don’t really have a specific role model, but I highly admire people that ignore what other people say, keep their heads down no matter what, and keep on pushing.
Do you have any special talents or is there something surprising about you that others might not know about you?
I play the guitar.
What cartoon character would you be? Why?
I would be Jerry the mouse on Tom & Jerry. I admire that he always found a way to outsmart Tom no matter the odds.
What is your favorite food?
I love mixing mashed potatoes & gravy with corn, chicken, or Turkey.
What song best describes you or is the sound track to your life? Why?
Whatever It Takes by Imagine Dragons because it just describes my mindset to do what it takes to win.
Are you looking to continue your playing career in college?
I would like to continue my career in college.
Do you have a field of study already chosen when you go to college? Why that field?
I am undecided on a field.
What team do you most enthusiastically root for? (any sport)
I always root for the underdog

The All-American Conference is an OHSAA-sanctioned league, created in 2008 as the result of the merger between the Trumbull Athletic Conference and the Metro Athletic Conference in Ohio. The league has 21 different member schools, with 17 sports offered throughout fall, winter and spring sports seasons.
