CANFIELD 52, HARDING 42: WARREN — Canfield turned things around in the second half to claim a pivotal All-American Conference Red Tier victory over Harding.The Cardinals (9-4, 5-1) trailed, 25-22, at halftime, but they went on a 16-5 run in the third quarter to take the lead for good. JIll Baker led all scorers with 18, while the Cardinals Grace Managapora added 13 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double.
Harding (7-5, 6-1) had its three-game win streak snapped. The Raiders had a high-scoring second quarter with 17-11 advantage, but they were outscored 30-17 in the second half. Diamond Phillips paced Harding with 12 points.
NEWTON FALLS 54, LaBRAE 37: LEAVITTSBURG — Isabelle Kline was eight of eight from the foul line and had a game-high 22 points to lead the Tigers past the Vikings in this All-American Conference, Blue Tier matchup.
Elizabeth Barreca added 14, while Breeanna Hutson put in 10 for Newton Falls (11-5, 6-2 AAC Blue).
Olivia Williams led LaBrae (4-11, 2-6) with 12 points.
LIBERTY 96, CAMPBELL 44: LIBERTY — Sharda Williamson and Nysa Gilchrist combined for 44 points as the Leopards dominated the Red Devils in this AAC Blue Tier game.
Gilchrist led with 23 points, while Williamson had 21 for Liberty (11-4, 8-3).
Delia Watson added 19 for the Leopards, which started with a 35-7 first-quarter lead.
Selena Lopez paced Campbell with 22 points.
STRUTHERS 58, POLAND 49: POLAND — Struthers used a strong defensive game to get the big road win over Poland in All-American Conference White Tier play.
Poland (13-4, 8-1) broke its five-game win streak. The Bulldogs were led by Jackie Grisdale and Sarah Bury both with 11 points and 10 rebounds each.
Struthers was led by Trinity McDowell with 20 points and 13 rebounds and Khaylah Brown with 16 points.
Struthers outrebounded Poland by one, 35-34.
NILES 54, EDGEWOOD 17: NILES — Niles played great defense to get into the win column against Edgewood in All-American Conference White Tier play.
Niles (7-9, 4-5) was led by Aneziah Fryer with 12 points and Emma Dellinger with 11 points.
Edgewood was led by Lynsey Randolph with five points.
Niles hit one more 3-pointer than Edgewood, 4-3.
CHAMPION 63, HUBBARD 19: CHAMPION — Champion used a good defensive game to defeat Hubbard in non-conference play.
Champion (11-3) was led by Emma Gumont with 18 points and Megan Turner with 15 points.
Hubbard (4-13) was led by Jackie Adler with six points on two 3-pointers.
Champion hit six 3-pointers to Hubbard’s three.
MINERAL RIDGE 58, BADGER 47: VERNON — Mineral Ridge got a good road victory over Badger in non-conference play.
Mineral Ridge (8-9) was led by Alexa Harkins with 23 points and Kaylee Suarez with 13 points.
Badger (10-6) was led by Haylee Mott with 18.
Despite Badger hitting six 3-pointers to Mineral Ridge’s zero, Ridge hit 11 more free throws
HOWLAND 43, BOARDMAN 29: BOARDMAN — A strong second half — defensively and offensively — allowed Howland to pull away from the Spartans.
The Tigers (14-4, 8-2) led by one at halftime, but they outscored Boardman, 24-11, in the final two quarters. Mackenzie Maze led in scoring with 18 (10 in the fourth quarter), and Alex Ochman notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Alicia Saxton led Boardman (4-11) with eight points.
LAKEVIEW 59, YOUNGSTOWN EAST 43: CORTLAND — Lakeview poured in 27 first-quarter points to race past Youngstown East in an AAC, Red Tier matchup.
The Bulldogs (8-10, 4-6) got 11 first-quarter points from both Melanie Wolff and Annie Pavlansky. Wolff finished with 11, and Pavlansky had a team-best 17. Lakeview led 45-18 at halftime. Lindsey Carnahan added 15 for the Bulldogs.
Avion Willis paced Youngstown East (2-14, 0-8) with 16. Deja Monroe added 13.
BROOKFIELD 45, GIRARD 10: GIRARD — Brookfield’s defense held Girard to just four first-half points in a dominating AAC, Blue Tier victory.
Brookfield (11-3, 8-1) led 24-4 at intermission. Bailey Drapola scored a game-high 18 for the Warriors, who didn’t yield a point in the third quarter.
Girard fell to 4-12 and 1-7.
The All-American Conference is an OHSAA-sanctioned league, created in 2008 as the result of the merger between the Trumbull Athletic Conference and the Metro Athletic Conference in Ohio. The league has 21 different member schools, with 17 sports offered throughout fall, winter and spring sports seasons.
