NEWTON FALLS 48, GARFIELD 45: GARRETTSVILLE — Newton Falls outscored Garfield, 16-7, in the fourth quarter to pull out a big non-conference road win. Garfield (6-3) led 14-13 after one quarter and 26-25 at halftime, before opening a 38-32 lead after three quarters.
The Tigers (8-2) were led by Allison Sembach with 18 points. Elizabeth Barreca added nine, and Bree Hutson contributed eight.
Gafield was paced by Grace Mills with 19 points and Sarah Miller with nine.
LABRAE 78, BERKSHIRE 43: BURTON — The Vikings put five players in double figures in a non-conference rout on the road. LaBrae (6-1) led 17-4 after one quarter and 40-13 at halftime.
Tyler Stephens scored 16 points, Landen Kiser had 13 and Connor Meyer, Justin Rutherford and Walt Allie all tallied 11.
CHAMPION 56, KENNEDY 27: WARREN — John F. Kennedy grabbed a 14-8 lead through one quarter, then Champion put on the defensive clamps holding the Eagles to 13 points the rest of the way, including a shutout second quarter. With the defense in high gear, the Golden Flashes (7-3) posted leads of 21-14 at halftime and 43-20 after three quarters.
Emma Gumont led a balanced Champion attack with 14 points. Savannah Dodrill added 12 and Brooke Whit scored 10.
JFK (4-5) was led by Caitlyn Condoleon with 10 points, six assists and eight rebounds. Naomi Herman contributed 14 rebounds and six blocked shots.
The All-American Conference is an OHSAA-sanctioned league, created in 2008 as the result of the merger between the Trumbull Athletic Conference and the Metro Athletic Conference in Ohio. The league has 21 different member schools, with 17 sports offered throughout fall, winter and spring sports seasons.
