HARDING 63, LAKESIDE 51: ASHTABULA — D’Muntize Owens had a game-high 24 points as the Raiders beat the Dragons to sweep this All-American Conference, Red Tier series.
Dom McGhee added 19 points for Harding (9-8, 5-2 AAC Red) as he and Owens combined for all of the team’s 3-pointers as the Raiders shot 6-of-18. The Raiders were 27-of-54 from the floor.
Harding was 9-of-14 in the third quarter as the Raiders outscored Lakeside (0-7 AAC Red), 19-10.
Ethan Colbert led the Dragons with 16 points, while Brandon Ford had 13 and Courtez Vaughn added 10.
EDGEWOOD 55, LaBRAE 46: ASHTABULA — Edgewood held off a late rally by the Vikings to stay undefeated.
LaBrae (12-3, 6-2) trailed by 15 entering the fourth quarter, but the Vikings had the lead down to three with just more than a minute to play. The Warriors (15-0, 7-0), however, scored on a lay-up and made free throws down the stretch to pull away.
Edgewood’s Jacob Zappitelli scored 10 of his team-high 13 in the third quarter, when the Warriors went on a 16-8 run. LaBrae’s Tyler Stephens responded with seven of his game-high 17 in the fourth to get the Vikings back in the game. He was the only LaBrae player to score in double figures, however.
BROOKFIELD 56, CAMPBELL 54: CAMPBELL — Brookfield survived a hot fourth quarter to capture a victory over Campbell.
The Warriors (6-8, 3-5) were led by Haden Gibson who scored 20 points. Conner Stevens added 11.
Campbell (n/a, 1-7) was led by two double-figure performances, with Xavion Leonard scoring 23 and Raysean Hicks adding 16. Leonard scored 15 of the Red Devils’ 24 points in the fourth quarter.
¯ LIBERTY 62, CRESTVIEW 44: COLUMBIANA — Liberty’s high scoring second half guided them to a conference victory over Crestview.
The Leopards (5-11, 4-4 AAC Blue) outscored the Rebels 37-23 in the second half. Darrion Williams was one of three Liberty players who put up double-figures, tallying 17 points. Ezell Brown added 15 and Omarion Dawson added 10.
Crestview was led by Dominic Wycoff who put up 11 points. Rick Golden added 10.
¯ CANFIELD 63, FITCH 47: AUSTINTOWN — Free throws made all the difference in Canfield’s victory over Fitch.
The Cardinals shot 20-25 compared to the Falcons shooting 11-18 from the line.
Conor Crogan led the Cardinals scoring 18 points. Aydin Hanousek scored 16 while Kyle Gamble added 13. Fitch (4-12, 3-4, AAC Red) was led by Todd Simons who scored 19 points. Lorenzo Russo contributed 15.
The All-American Conference is an OHSAA-sanctioned league, created in 2008 as the result of the merger between the Trumbull Athletic Conference and the Metro Athletic Conference in Ohio. The league has 21 different member schools, with 17 sports offered throughout fall, winter and spring sports seasons.
