The Warren G. Harding girls bowling team is on its way to the Division I district tournament on Saturday after a third-place finish in the sectionals last week.
“We have worked very hard to get to this point,” Raiders coach Michelle Schuller said. “Of course the girls are nervous, but they also know that as long as they perform well, we can reach the state tournament.”
The Raiders bowled a 3201, beating fourth-place Howland by 114 pins to keep the Tigers out of the district tournament. The top three teams in the sectional at Stow advanced to the district at Roseland Lanes in Bedford.
Stow-Munroe Falls won the girls sectional with Boardman in second. Austintown Fitch was second in the boys’ competition, behind Kent Roosevelt and ahead of third-place Stow. Area individual qualifiers include Howland senior Danielle Harigan and Niles junior Nathan Zook.
